 Planning A Book

    I've been doing a lot to plan the sequel to my book while waiting for people to read my first one for impressions. I always think of it in scenes and organize them in an outline. That way I can come up with interesting ideas, locations and scenarios and add them where they best fit. When I'm walking or hiking, which I try to do 2 miles a day, I'll think about my book.

    Signature Rainbows Wane's outline was over 15 pages long. I figured out a lot of what works or not through writing and did 2 rewrites before the final product. With the sequel, Signature Ghate, I hope to have learned from the first and plan better. Many of the ideas that couldn't fit in RW can be applied to Ghate. So far I have five pages of planning.

    Ghate btw, is sort of like purgatory; it's the place souls go when transitioning from one life to the next. The story will revolve around the villain spinning a web through it in attempt to find his lost love.

 Genetic Mutations      When you think of foxes you generally think of a red color. But foxes can be several different colors and even change color from season to season. Arctic foxes for example are brown or grey in the spring time and turn white when winter comes. It's a form of seasonal adaptation.     Mutations can change a fox's color too. Red foxes can become a silver or black color. These mutations are a result of melanistic color morphs. Melanin is a process that makes a fox’s natural fur color darker through a genetic mutation.  Lengthy Art Projects      I'm still figuring out how to format this blog. My aim is to produce content at a steady rate but certain art projects, like painting the bouquet I sketched, are proving to be very time consuming. Rather than put full projects into one daily post, I'm considering making several update posts followed by one final overview of the project.      For now I'm continuing to paint over my bouquet sketch with a tablet on phototshop. Photoshop uses layers and this makes painting very convenient because I needn't worry about paints running together and can simply paint one flower at a time. First I painted the green leaves for a background and proceeded to create layers over that. With many flowers I would paint the shadowy back petals first than the illuminated ones on top of them. Please be patient as I hope to have results soon although there is still much to be done.

 Writing Habits Writing is a passion of mine. I love to create my own characters and worlds. But even I have a resistance to doing it. Writing is a daunting task; it's hard to be creative. You're putting out something entirely new. How can you hope to do it consistently?  Really, you have to find what works for you. I tend to be tired and have anxiety at night so I focus on working in the morning. I like to ease myself into it by saying "I'll watch one more youtube video then write". It's like jumping into a cold swimming pool; some people will dive in head first while others gradually sink in. The important thing is it happens. I try to write a page a day, everyday or in the case of editing, work on several pages. Routines help me a lot. You want to make it as easy as possible with an outline to guide you.
